I still miss you Sixto. I had another laugh today while reminiscing with a friend who was with me at two of his three concerts at Festival Theatre in Adelaide, 1979. About six songs into his set, Sixto had said nothing and somebody yelled out "You don't say much".... With perfect timing another audience member yelled back "He doesn't have to!" Rodriguez just cracked up as the crowd roared. Magic.

My wife is Australian and during her early teens he was HUGE in Australia... absolutely compelling, wonderful musician.

It seems odd that after shows in Australia that were successful, 15k gigs comparable to Rod Stewart who had 18k gigs. I understand his producer in the states kept his royalties but that said I am shocked Australian concert promoters didn’t continue to book shows every couple of years in Australia & the natural progression to New Zealand & Sth Africa as he was hugely popular in all three countries. Just pick up the phone and call the man in say 1984… what happened? Rodriguez had some drug issues, but heck who hasn’t. I tried to track his music down in the late 1990”s having moved to NYC from Oz but I was unsuccessful. I went to most of the vinyl shops in the east & west village. Glad he was recognized & able to pass his music & long over due financial success on to his family.

Well, any production with this much effort deserves a👍 ....even if 🥺11 years late...hope you're still alive & well mate ! 🦘 Came here via Rodriguez Live...thanks for that.✌

If he had been properly promoted in the USA, he would have been HUGE. His voice, his lyrics, the great sound. Sad I only discovered him a couple years ago. So sad he is gone now. Shame on his producers in the US in 1970s. They robbed the world. But thanks to South African fans and Steve Segerman for finding him and bringing him out of the shadows of time. RIP Rodriguez ❤
